Ned Stark was widely known as a successful politician and Hand to the King, but he was also one of the very first environmental crusaders and proponents of the concept of human caused climate change. Ned's insight on this matter is remarkable considering he lived in an age where very little scientific knowledge existed and weather pattern prediction systems were rudimentary and largely superstitious.

Ned Stark is not a supporter of the climate change concept, but he does constantly harp on about the preponderance of 'winter'. Although, similar to the climate change movement, Ned's winter fixation doesn't seem to have any foundation in fact or evidence.
