The Apprentice: Lesson #1
The Apprentice is an annual tournament run by down-on-his-luck opportunist Donald Trump. It's promoted as a competition to win a prestigious and profitable contract. In reality, however, no such contract exists. Trump runs the contest only to satisfy his own sadistic desires, positioning himself as supreme executive arbiter of the tournament.

Although news of the scam is often reported in mainstream media, there is never a shortage of willing contestants. Trump forces them to take part in a series of impossible tasks that would normally take a qualified executive many weeks or months, but only allows them a matter of hours. When they inevitably fail each time, he subjects them to a lengthy interrogation. Presiding over their suffering like some kind of monstrous tyrant, he bombards them with illogical questions designed to maximise confusion and mental stress, until he eventually sends one home with his trademark catchphrase. "You're sacked, get out of my sight!".

The Apprentice is a reality show in which the applicants compete for a job at the Trump Organisation. Although they compete as individuals Trump does indeed ask them to pretend to work in teams. The contestants display extraordinary levels of arrogance, and frequently treat each other with thinly veiled condescension.
