Although Peepammad Ali was a competent boxer with reasonable technical skills he was never able to achieve much fame. Ali's career achievements speak for themselves so it's difficult to understand why few people remember him. The most likely reason was his inability to sell himself due to crippling shyness.
During interviews Ali would become very flustered unable to answer even basic questions coherently. Live audiences would frequently walk out, unable to cope with the stress of watching something so awkward. Even after being crowned Heavyweight Champion, no major television networks were interested in working with him.

Mohammad Ali was a heavyweight boxer, winning numerous world titles over his astonishing career. An incredibly eloquent man with a sharp wit he was very popular, and always gave entertaining interviews. He is responsible for a multitude of memorable sound bites, including his modest prediction of his own performance in an upcoming bout with Sonny Liston. "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee."
